The role of women in our daily lives is often underestimated. Be it the gentle care of our grandmothers, the selfless sacrifices of sisters or the endless struggles of a wife, a man generally tends to overlook the parts played by all these women in building him the way he is today. In this small list of important people, I have missed the most important of them all – mothers.
“God could not be everywhere, so he created mothers.”
The journey of motherhood is a never-ending track of events that begin with conceiving a little life. This is followed by nine long months of nurture and care as the baby grows in her womb. Many people see this as a life-changing experience. In my eyes, she is the most powerful person on the planet if she can carry a new life within her. After counting many days on the calendar, the day comes when the baby would be brought to the world. Withstanding the process of labour and the pain associated with it is yet another marvel only mothers are capable of. After this phase, a new journey begins. This journey comprises uncountable sleepless nights and moments of utter happiness as the baby learns to do small things. The journey never ends. Even as the baby grows up into a child and ultimately an adult, the role of a mother remains pivotal.
She is the first one to wake up in the morning and the last one to sleep at night. And even after all her endless contributions in providing us a better life, we end up ignoring her presence on our busy schedules. We forget that she had once shaped us to make us who we are today.
Motherhood is at times, regarded as unpaid labour. On giving it a second thought, I realised what could be the price of motherhood. Can any remuneration define the struggles of a mother? Can any payment balance her affection? I think not. Even after doing so much, she ends up expecting nothing but respect from us. Can’t we give her that much? If not, we would fail as children, and humans.
She is the greatest artist as she masters the art of raising humans.
Apart from the art of civilising humans, she perfectly balances her life as she manages to ace her career alongside looking after her family. She is a warrior in all senses and can fight against the whole world for the wellbeing of her children. She is fierce and has always got your back, no matter what.
